PRODUCTION IN-CHARGE
(Job Description)

The Production In-charge is responsible for development of all employees in the department, daily supervision and directing of employee tasks, and for the hiring, disciplining, and terminations of all departmental employees under his/her supervision. This position is responsible for ensuring that company standards are achieved and maintained with a targeted emphasis on continuous improvement, providing support, structure and documented, formalized training for employees within the department. The Production In-charge in this position will be required to be a hands-on, self-starter with the ability to motivate and lead the employees in his/her department. He is responsible for leading the department by example in such a way to exemplify the company’s mission “To be the most trusted food manufacturer in the industry”.
Position has responsibility to ensure and maintain a food safe environment through compliance with all requirements in Food Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Quality, Workplace Safety, Environmental Standards and polices/programs as may be required by Production & Warehouse, Company, Local Municipality mandates or programs.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supports General Production & Warehouse Safety, Food Safety, Food Defense initiatives and Good Manufacturing Practices with an understanding that these are absolutes and are Priority #1. Ensuring that General safety and Food Safety are absolute priorities by setting an example to others.


• Ensures that Product Quality is an absolute priority utilizing Teams and outside resources to accomplish this.


• Coordinates, maintains and monitors production processes and procedures.


• Manages the production process (time, temperature, procedures).


• Supervises, trains and coaches production associates.


• Implements Company policies and procedures


• Coordinates workflow with all other departments as well as equipment repair with maintenance.


• Executes, maintains records for all phases of production relative to safety, food safety, key performance indicators, orders completion and personnel and/or labor related issues.


• May conduct in-house inventory, audits/checks and quality control checks.


• Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity and sustained certification of the Food Safety and Quality systems.


• Responsible for reporting and taking any necessary action to prevent food safety and food quality problems from occurring.


• Responsible for following and enforcing procedures outlined in the Food Safety Plan and the Food Quality Plan and any other programs that support the food safety and quality systems and other 3rd party audits


• Under R&D department, the assistant will help out in making sure that documents are prepared, tools/utensils are in order, inventory of products are properly maintained and sample are kept properly. Will generally assist the R&D specialist/manager.


• Under application laboratory, the assistant will be responsible for carrying out trials on products with the help of the R&D specialist/manager.


• Under Production department, the assistant will help in manufacturing of the different products of the company.


• Warehousing duties will entail the assistant to help with the proper storage of the finished products of the company, as well as proper maintenance of the warehouse physical assets.


• Will be responsible for the cleanliness of the entire company premises, both inside and outside the building.


• Occasionally help out in troubleshooting minor I.T. related issues.

Position Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred


• A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted


• Two or more years of hands-on in-charge/supervisory experience and direct manufacturing experience with a consumer goods company


• Extensive knowledge of food ingredients operations/processing/formulations


• Strong technical skills and working knowledge of manufacturing equipment


• Knowledge of safety related issues including compliance with Local regulations


• Computer Literate


• The ability to help all teams throughout the manufacturing to achieve their goals


• Excellent communication skills in a labor environment


• Ability to multi-task and problem solve in a challenging environment


• Strong computer skills including MS Office


• Strong Organizational Skills

• Ability to operate in fast paced production environment


• Food safety knowledge
