DISTRIBUTION CENTRE OPERATIONS MANAGERS – FASHION RETAIL LOGISTICS

Salary: 250-360,000 UAE Dirhams/£45-66000 Tax Free + Bonus + Benefits

Location: Dubai, UAE

Our client is the logistics division of a highly successful international fashion and homewares retailing group. The logistics division operates a large distribution centre in the UAE which serves retail territories across the MENA region.

Currently our client is seeking two FMCG logistics professionals to be appointed as Distribution Centre Operations Managers with responsibility for a specific region within the MENA – you will be located from the UAE DC. The 50,000 sq. metre DC employs c1000 people on a six-day operation. One role is an immediate requirement and our client is seeking someone already located in the UAE. The second role has slightly longer timescales and our client will consider applicants currently located elsewhere in the GCC or in Europe or South East Asia. For both roles candidates must have a track record in distribution centre management and shipping/logistics. Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be highly advantageous. You will demonstrate excellent leadership, coaching and motivational skills in order to develop a large team to deliver results in this very fast moving environment.

We are looking for graduate calibre, senior FMCG logistics professionals with extensive supply chain management knowledge to be responsible for the distribution centres and shipping departments within a specified region. Your leadership and planning skills will ensure that you are able to coach and develop a large team to deliver results – ensuring all stock is managed and moved efficiently. You will work closely with merchandisers and regional development managers to ensure stock is managed and moved as required. You will lead a large team by setting direction, monitoring and motivating individuals to exceed objectives whilst ensuring that security, inventory management and safety standards are maintained. We are looking for strategic individuals who are able to drive continuous improvement in productivity, operating costs and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidates will be experienced leaders and people managers with the ability to motivate and drive performance. You will also possess extensive knowledge of retail operations, distribution, shipping and customs.

The Role:

The primary objective of these roles is to ensure accurate order assembly and despatch to retail stores within your designated region in a timely, cost effective and efficient manner. The operation is very seasonal but also with lots of promotions and new product launches and you will be adept at building excellent relationships across the supply chain and commercial teams promoting “retail excellence”. It is essential that you also have some collaborative planning exposure with supplier’s/logistics partners. So the key emphasis of this role will be to surpass internal and external customer expectations, people development and leadership and proactive continuous improvement of safety, quality and operational productivity and performance. Accuracy of stock holding, excellent cost control and budgetary management will be critical to success so you must already be very familiar with compiling and managing budgets and forecasts.

The Ideal Candidate:

To succeed in these roles you will be of graduate calibre with previous experience of managing a large team of individuals including significant experience of managing first line managers/supervisors/team leaders, within a FMCG retail warehousing and distribution sector ideally in the Middle East or other international location although UK applicants with relevant experience and a desire to develop their career in the Middle East would also be of interest. This must include proven people management skills including team development, maximising performance, improving motivation and productivity. Proven experience of forecasting and capacity planning in line with budgetary constraints and within a highly seasonal and promotions led environment. You will be mature, credible and comfortable interacting with senior internal and external contacts. Excellent analytical skills, able to resolve complex problems through the identification of long term solutions covering IT/process change. An influential change agent with the capability to facilitate and drive continuous improvement projects cross functionally.
