In this role your are responsible for managing the design and development of Ride systems for specific theme park Attraction(s). Able to provide specific insights and consultation services during the design, production, installation and commissioning of the Ride systems. Responsible for evaluating ride & show designs, managing vendor relations, schedules, cost and team coordination during the project. Ultimately accountable for vendor performance in delivery of contract requirements.

Main Duties:


  • Oversee the development of detailed scope of work documents that become the basis of contract for fabrication and installation vendors

  • Establish quantitative and qualitative requirements and specifications based on interpreting creative intent for Ride systems.

  • Produce scopes of work for the Ride systems and ancillary equipment, and manage their progress from inception through installation, test & adjust and operational commissioning phases.

  • Provide guidance in the design and engineering process to insure project goals and objectives are being addressed and met

  • Consistent review and reporting of status to project team and project senior management

  • Provide leadership and guidance in the design and engineering process, insuring compliance to Ride Performance specifications, EN – 13814, ASTM 2294 and Local Codes

  • Review designs and documentation from contractors ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and specifications

  • Plan, direct, and manage multiple mechanical/technical disciplines from design through operational handover

  • Provide leadership and guidance in the development of production plans for various disciplines

  • Provide leadership, guidance and oversight in the vendor production and fabrication phases for the various disciplines Plan, direct, and manage multiple mechanical/technical disciplines from design through operational handover

  • Consistent review and reporting of status to project team and project senior management

  • Review designs and documentation from vendors, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and specifications

  • Oversee and contribute to the details of contractual documents related to Ride.

  • Assist to evaluate, select and monitor qualified vendors to produce show and ride systems and associated equipment.

  • Manage multiple vendors and technical disciplines from design through to operational handover.

  • Manage through subordinates and vendors

  • Maintain reporting of status to project team and project senior management

  • Lead design and production reviews at vendor locations ensuring product quality, specification conformance and schedule adherence

  • Prepare an or assist with the preparation of documentation, analysis and recommendations required to report project status

  • Participate in reviews ensuring product quality, specification conformance, and schedule compliance.

  • Manage vendor installation, test and adjustment, and commissioning of Ride systems to ensure compliance with contract specifications

  • Oversee vendor mock-up or prototype efforts to ensure results reflect the final installed system

  • Provide leadership, guidance and oversight in the coordination and installation of Rides

  • Develop workaround plans which overcome discovered challenges to creative, technical, commercial or timeline expectations

  • Consistent review and reporting of status to project team and project senior management

  • Perform as a member of the Project Core Team representing Ride and in support of the Show & Ride management and senior project management

  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established DPR policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.

  • Perform other duties as may be reasonably requested by the Management Team

Are You a Star?
In order to be qualified for this role you should possess the below criteria:


Essential:


  • University Level Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil or Marine preferred), or minimum 10 Year equivalent work experience in Systems or Mechanical Engineering disciplines, or a related field

  • Previous experience with turnkey projects, specifically within the entertainment/theme park industry

  • Practical experience in component selection and detailed machine design

  • Supervisory and contract/vendor management experience

  • Excellent mathematical and analytical reasoning skills,

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook

  • Knowledge of AutoCad and computer modeling

  • Firsthand knowledge of compliance to EN-13814 Standards, General Performance specifications, local AHJ standards and code compliance

  • Ability to comfortably express both facts and theory to management

  • Tenacity to thrive under deadlines in high-pressure situations

  • Skilled conflict resolver both in terms of intra-team decision-making and technical consensus building

  • Five (5)+ years of theme park Attraction development management or equivalent theater production experience

  • Direct experience managing the design, manufacturing, installation and text of integrated Attraction developments or subsystems valued above $5M USD

  • Demonstrated acumen in understanding Creative intent and taking ownership of implementation of that intent into development process and ultimately the finished project

  • History of successful vendor management within large complex Attractions

  • Hands-on experience with AutoCad software

  • Proven ability to lead others in accomplishing team goals and objectives

  • Ability to read and understand design/engineering drawings including: Architectural, Structural, MEP, Lighting , Audio/Video, Show Set,

  • Animatronics, Electronic Controls


Desirable:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil or Marine preferred), or minimum 15 Year equivalent work experience in Systems or Mechanical Engineering disciplines, or a related field

  • Proven strategic and organizational planning capabilities

  • Familiarity with international business (expatriate assignments) is highly desirable

  • Ten (10)+ years of theme park Attraction mechanical systems design development or equivalent theater production experience

  • Direct experience managing the design, manufacturing, installation and text of integrated Attraction developments or subsytems valued above $25M USD

  • Experienced with assessments and communications necessary to interface with regulatory compliance organizations including international standards authorities and governmental entities

  • Experience working in an international setting and adjusting perspective and process to the cultural, technical and organizational differences that are often integral to international environments

  • Language Skills: Arabic (speak/read/write)

  • Working knowledge of some or all of Sketchup, Powerpoint, Adobe Pro
