QHSSE

Ensure that the Company’s Safety, quality and environmental management systems are


followed and enforced at all times and personally demonstrate and promote a positive


safety culture within the organization.


Play a Leading Role at site during the Dry Docking to ensure that the Company’s Safety


Culture and safe operating procedures are promoted, implemented and maintained to


the highest possible standards.


Be responsible for Control of Work (COW) and exercise the STOP WORK POLICY


whenever unsafe conditions or acts are observed.


Ensure that all activities are carried out by suitably qualified personnel and appropriate


PPE, tools and information is available for the task in hand.


Technical


Formulate technical proposals and scopes detailing the technical requirements and


parameters for ship’s equipment and machinery based on defined requirements and


ensure compliance with applicable classification and other relevant regulatory bodies’


rules and guidelines.


Participate in the evaluation, selection and scrutiny of major equipment, determine the


most economic technical solution and advice dry-dock superintendents and procurement


engineers on all mechanical and piping related issues.


Preparation of all required documentation to support equipment installation activities


including writing of testing and commissioning procedures.


Prepare sketches and basic concept design drawings for any newly proposed vessels.


Participate in annual review and evaluate projects to determine success and how


improvements can be made in the future report and present findings.


Work with Fleet Technical Superintendents and give Mechanical and Piping related


drawing and design support as required.


Planning and Cost Control


Participate with planning and reporting meetings as required.


Assist in the preparation of work plans following a logical sequence and optimizing


resources.


Monitor repair / project costs against budget on a daily basis and report any deviations


immediately.


Reporting


Ensure Fleet Technical Superintendents are kept fully informed on progress of work on a


daily basis or as instructed in accordance with company procedures.


Provide written reports as required, detailing in service repairs, dry-docking repairs and


surveys.


Keep accurate daily logs of work progress and include photographic support as


appropriate.


Planned Maintenance System NS5


Cooperate with Planned Maintenance System (NS5) team to build and improve the


system, based on observations of machinery and equipment worked on during the


repair/maintenance period.


During vessel visits conduct ‘ad hoc’ checks on NS5 compliance.


Other Functions


Understand internal and customer organization, assets, investment strategy, fleet


operations and priorities


Maintain high technical knowledge and ensure personal development through training and


self-development


Communication & Working Relationships


Internal: Operations Superintendents, Fleet Superintendents, Procurement Team, Project


Manager and Head of Engineering.


External: Shipyard Management and Supervisors, Class Surveyors, Flag Administration


Surveyors, Insurance Surveyors, OEM and other Equipment Suppliers.


Qualifications, Experience & Skills


Minimum Qualifications


BE / B.Tech – Marine / Mechanical Engineering


Minimum Experience


5 years’ experience in a shipyard/design office guiding and leading a team of


Mech/Piping Engineers.


Should have independently handled complex shipbuilding/conversion projects


Well versed with Class rules and IACS Standards for Mechanical and Piping Design.


Must be proficient in AutoCad.


Knowledge of Shipbuilding production software and 3D modelling which includes: NUPAS


CADMATIC, TRIBON, CATIA, SC and Rhino.


Thorough knowledge of major Class Societies requirements (ABS, DNV-GL, BV)


Good knowledge of SOLAS/MARPOL and other statutory regulations.


Exposure to FAT’s, Site Surveys, Dock and Sea Trials is mandatory.


Basic knowledge of a Planned Maintenance System (AMOS, NS5)
