Implements instructional activities that contribute to a climate where children are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.

Assists in assessing changing curricular needs and offers plans for improvement.

Marks work, gives appropriate feedback and maintains effective and efficient record keeping procedures.

Provides a positive environment in which children are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.

Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with principal and parents on a regular basis; works cooperatively with parents to strengthen the educational program for their children.

Attends all training sessions run by the ELC.

Keeps accurate and up-to-date records of children’s’ reports and academic progress in planner provided by the nursery and makes it available for checking at all times.

Respects the confidentiality of records and information regarding children, parents and teachers in accordance with accepted professional ethics and ELC policy.

Attends and prepares for scheduled Parent Consultation meetings.

Ensures the best use of resources and ensures the minimum wastage.

Offers and participates in extracurricular activities in accordance with contractual obligations; provides required extra-curricular activity per week.

Provides progress, interim and term reports as required.

Plans and prescribes purposeful assignments for children who are considered “gifted and talented”.

Recognizes learning problems and makes referrals as appropriate.

Demonstrates a strong grasp of IPC program.

Collaborates with peers to enhance the instructional environment; attends all scheduled staff meetings with colleagues.

Covers for absent colleagues in accordance with the conditions of the contract of employment.

Models professional and ethical standards when dealing with children, parents, peers, and community.

Implements useful progress assessment measures that ensure children growth and achievement are continuous and appropriate for age group & subject area.

Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with children, parents, and school.

Assumes responsibility for meeting his/her course and nursery-wide child performance goals.

Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honouring.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head of the ELC. All work responsibilities are subject to having performance goals and/or targets established as part of the annual performance planning process or as the result of organizational planning.

Plans, prepares and delivers lessons to a range of classes.

Contributes to curriculum development.

Contributes to classroom displays.

Uses strategies and takes action when necessary in order to maintain good order and behaviour in the classroom; facilitates learning and safeguards children health and safety, both on-site and during authorized off-site activities.

Implements all agreed ELC sectional and departmental policies.

Researches new topic areas and maintains up-to-date subject knowledge.

Participates in arrangements for their in-service training and professional development;

Informs the Head of ELC, should they require any specific training in order to carry out their duties as a teacher.
